Curb Check parking alert service

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Curb Check is a free service provided by the Washington Square West Civic Association ("WSWCA") to help neighbors find street-closure permits that may affect parking. By using it, you agree to these terms.

Curb Check is informational only. It is not an official service of the City of Philadelphia, the Streets Department, or the Philadelphia Parking Authority. It does not grant, deny, or affect any parking right, and it cannot prevent a ticket or a tow. Always obey posted signs.

1. What the service does

Curb Check reads publicly available street-closure permit data published by the City of Philadelphia and shows permits near a location you choose. If you request alerts, it periodically re-checks that location and notifies you when a permit appears that it has not previously reported to you.

2. Accuracy — please read

The information shown comes from the City of Philadelphia and is displayed as provided. WSWCA does not create, verify, correct, or control it.

WSWCA takes no responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information presented. Do not rely on Curb Check as your only source. Verify against the official permit record and posted signage before deciding where to park or whether to move your vehicle.

3. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. WSWCA does not guarantee that alerts will be sent, delivered, or received in time to be useful.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WSWCA and its officers, directors, committee members, and volunteers are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Curb Check. This includes parking tickets, towing and storage charges, vehicle damage, missed appointments, or any other direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss — whether or not the service displayed, failed to display, or was late in displaying a permit.

You are responsible for your own parking decisions.

5. Not legal or enforcement advice

Nothing here is legal advice, and nothing constitutes an official determination about parking regulations, permit validity, or enforcement. Questions about parking rules or citations should go to the City of Philadelphia or the Philadelphia Parking Authority.

6. Reporting problems with a closure

Curb Check lets you report apparent problems with a permitted closure to the Complete Streets Committee. Reports are informational and help the committee understand neighborhood patterns.

WSWCA has no enforcement authority and cannot compel any action. To report a violation to the City, use Philly 311 — that is the channel that can dispatch an inspector. Submitting a report to WSWCA is not a substitute for contacting 311.

Do not submit false reports, and do not include information about other people beyond what is needed to describe the issue.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend access for any of the above.

8. Membership features

Some features, including text alerts, may be limited to current WSWCA members and verified through our membership system. Membership status is determined by our membership records; if verification fails, email alerts remain available at no cost.

9. Availability and changes

Curb Check is a volunteer-run service. We may change, suspend, or discontinue it at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it, and is part of these terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
